Complete Tree Care

If you’re in need of expert tree care but aren’t sure where to start, ArborScape is here to help guide you through the optimal treatments for complete tree care, such as trimming or pruning, correcting soil deficiencies, and monitoring and providing pest control to keep your yard healthy.

As arborists, our interests lie in preserving trees, which is why we offer a variety of PHC (plant health care) services; so we can provide the complete tree care necessary for maintaining a healthy urban canopy throughout the Denver Metro Area.

Complete Tree Care

Colorado is considered rough terrain for plants and wildlife alike due to the state’s inconsistent climate and tendency for drought. Denver has temperatures that range from below zero in the winter, to over 100° in the summer! Then dry winds whip across the high Rockies and into the front range, leaving only the hardiest plants alive.

Add in Denver’s arid climate and sandy clay soils, you may find yourself in need of tree fertilization to help those roots get the nutrients they need for healthy growth.

Luckily, ArborScape offers deep root fertilizers and soil injections in the spring and fall, when the soil is just the right temperature for proper absorption.

  • Spring Deep Root Fertilization: These fertilizations contain micronutrients that spread through the tree’s entire root system rather than sitting just at the surface.
  • Fall Deep Root Stimulator: This fertilizer is a soil injection that focuses more on stimulating root growth while the tree is dormant. The chemicals used in it include Rapture micronutrients and Mycorrhizae soil inoculate. By using these in autumn, we help minimize iron and nitrogen usage so as to not disrupt the dormancy cycle.

These nutrients will not just provide that pick-me-up that some trees may need after a bitter winter; these routine, annual treatments keep your tree healthy, which makes them less susceptible to insects and other stressors that are common in our area.

While not every tree needs fertilization, some may need an extra boost due to soil deficiencies in our area. Here, the soil lacks micronutrients such as nitrogen and potassium- important factors for complete tree care.

Identifying the Issue

While it can be tricky to diagnose a tree’s issue on your own, there are some telltale signs that your trees are in need of some fertilization.

The leaves on your tree will be smaller in growth than they usually are. These signs are usually due to the lack of nutrients in the soil; the roots aren’t able to gather enough to spread to the rest of the tree during the growing season.

Sometimes, you’ll notice patchy growth in the canopy as well. This is in part because of the branches producing smaller leaves, and some might not bloom at all so as to preserve energy.

Another symptom you’ll see when you’re in need of tree fertilization is an iron deficiency. This is where you’ll see the yellowing of the leaves, or a premature fall color. Tree leaves turn green with the help of chlorophyll, which is aided by iron. Without this, the leaves won’t stay green as long.

If you’re noticing these issues, don’t hesitate to reach out! Our arborists will come to your property, observe any and all issues, and provide you with a free complete tree care plan.

Insect Control

However, ArborScape’s complete tree care doesn’t end there, we also offer various methods of tree spraying and insect control.

While microorganisms and bugs are bound to be outside in your yard, some insects can bring all types of diseases to your trees, so it’s important to differentiate between friend and foe in your garden, and how to mitigate the issues.

  • Merit Soil Injection: Our injections are a systemic injectable insecticide that helps control leaf & needle-feeding insects. We inject this treatment in the spring before the emergence of aphids, Japanese beetles, and other insects.
  • Dormant Oil: These sprays also help reduce galls from the ash flower mite, though they tend to be more effective on younger insects rather than mature ones.
  • Ips Beetle: This insecticide targets IPS and mountain beetles in spruces and pines. Depending on the spread, these trees may require a second spray in the summer.
  • Ash Borer Treatment: This is a preventative spray against borers (even the emerald ash borer) that is used when the insect is getting ready to emerge. We have two types of treatments; one is an annual spray for smaller ash trees, and the other is a microinjection done to the base of the tree every other year.

Here at ArborScape, we offer customized treatment plants based on the condition of your trees or plants to help get them into the best possible shape so your yard can stay healthy all year long.

And remember, these are annual services, meaning we perform them seasonally each year. Unfortunately, one single treatment won’t last forever. In order to adequately mitigate these issues, these treatments are required every year.

The key is balance. Maintaining a healthy yard can be tricky, but with the proper treatments and routine applications, your trees are sure to flourish and bloom.

Coming to a tree near you! The Mountain Pine Beetle has made its way into Morrison by route of the 285. Here’s what you need to know. Mountain pine beetles are one of the most dangerous pests to pine trees- which make up a vast majority of Colorado forests. These pine beetles enter the tree by burrowing toward the bottom of the trunk before moving upward to the top of the canopy. In fact, because of this, another symptom of an infestation is seeing the tops of your pines die while the rest of the tree appears in healthy condition.
