Happy Earth Day everyone! Here at ArborScape we strive to continuously find ways we can minimize the negative impact we have on the environment. In our line of business it is extremely easy to have a massive carbon footprint which is why we have taken extra precaution to offset this affect.
Not only do we recycle 100% of our debris with a Denver wood recycling company where it is reused for mulch, compost, or firewood, but we are always willing to leave behind mulch for our customers to use for various landscaping projects on their property.
Our office also has a large recycling container that we use to dispose of all paper and other recyclable products. Approximately 1 billion trees worth of paper is thrown away every year in the U.S. so every little bit counts.
Currently we power our business from solar energy panels that are located on the roof of our shop and also drive fuel efficient vehicles. Each of our vehicles used for estimates travels over 20,000 miles a year so making sure we get the most miles while using the least amount of fuel is crucial to our efforts of protecting the environment.
Three hybrid Toyota Prius in 2011 and 2012 to give free estimates to our customers. Not surprisingly, 2012 was the first year that fuel costs were down year-over-year.
We make sure to purchase used vehicles that can be used for multiple purposes such as plant health care in the summer months and for snow plowing in the winter. Today is the day to start getting involved. Please visit http://www.earthday.org/ to get more information on how you can join ArborScape in our efforts to raise awareness and protect our planet.
Also if you own a business, we’d like to hear about the ways your company is becoming more sustainable. Does it cost a lot of money to become carbon neutral? Have you noticed big savings?
